INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF CLASSICAL MUSIC

Passion- Classical Music- Master Classes by internationally known professors, in Platres, the Crossroad of Culture and Civilization, where Musical Events regain their glory and prestige.

For one week Platres, will be filled with the sounds of classical music performed by young artists from all over the world, passionate to learn, share, perform classical music where nature inspires and where a lot of well-known musicians have left their footprints since 1930, when the first musical concerts were organized in Platres.

The vision of a Classical Music Concerts, with Master classes was for many years, in the mind of the internationally known violinist and chamber musician, ex Artistic Director of the European Community Chamber Orchestra (ECCO) Wolfgang Schröder’s who lives permanently in Cyprus and performs internationally regularly.

His passion and love for classical music and his eager to share his knowledge and experience with young musicians from Cyprus and all over the world was embraced by the President of Platres’s Community Council and Founder of Troodos Network of Thematic Centers, Panayiotis Papadopoulos, who had the same Vision and the International Academy of Classical Music has been formed in order to provide Master Classes and create a culture of appreciation of classical music in Cyprus but also entertain through concerts and create a platform of musicians working together.

The International Academy of Classical Music will offer great opportunities for students, especially gifted Cypriot students, who will be able to study with international artists/professors, and exchange ideas and experiences with their peers from abroad.

The International Academy of Classical Music will be inaugurated with a teachers concert in the Cultural Center in Platres, follows by four students concerts at the Cultural Center in Platres, where students will give chamber music concerts alongside with their professors and it will close gloriously for this summer with an Open Air Concert in Platres Square.

The close collaboration gifted Cypriot Artists, who, together with the most successful students of the Master classes as soloists, will play in the closing concert of the Festival adds value and prestige and guarantees a long and sustainable cooperation with all stakeholders and Platres’s Community Council, which will further enrich the cultural life on the island.
